What is a general contractor?

In short, we're hear to make the construction process as seamless as possible for our clients.  We oversee the services required to complete construction projects, this includes:

  • The construction itself

  • The materials needed

  • The hiring of skilled workers 

  • The supply of machinery, tool and equipment supply

  • And project management

A general contractor may offer a myriad of specific services and may also hire subcontractors to focus on specific jobs such as plumbing or electrical work. We  are often considered to be the liaison between the customer and everybody working on the project.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes and yes!  Baru Contracting is licensed through the state of MN perform continuing education every year to ensure we are up to date on changing building and energy codes. 


Not only are we insured, we ensure all our trade partners on our sites performing the work are also insured.  

How much will my project cost?

Project costs are highly custom and will vary pending the scope of work.  We'll start with your budget and work together to determine what we can accomplish within those parameters.  Should your request exceed your budget, we'd be happy to provide alternative options to ensure we can complete your project within budget.

How is an estimate prepared?

It all starts with getting to know our clients and their specific project needs.  We like to meet on site to determine the scope of work in partnership with our clients.  From there, behind the scenes we'll meet with our partners (plumbers, electricians, etc) to get pricing to inform a thoughtful and thorough estimate.  If you have an idea and would like help putting it to paper, we have trusted architects we partner with who can make your vision a reality!

Does my project require a permit?

Maybe; it varies based on your location and the scope of work.  If it's deemed necessary, Baru Contracting will handle everything to ensure proper permits are in order.
